Rose Tyler is just an ordinary shop worker living an ordinary life in 21st century Britain. But that life is turned upside down when a strange man calling himself The Doctor drags her into an alien invasion attempt! The new Dr Who started with a bang. A new doctor and some old enemies, the autons. Rose came across well as an innocent shop assistant plunged into the amazing world of the Doctor. The Doctor was a breath of fresh air, played brilliantly by Christopher Ecclestone. Eccentric, brilliant and very slightly alien. I loved the touch of having a northern accent and the quote of "don't alien planets have a north?". The story was a bit weak, but it did nice;y introduce some long running story arcs, the Time War, the end of the Time Lords, and the destruction of both the Time Lords and the Daleks by the Doctor.
